Earlier this month I renewed my flight instructor certificate for the 9th time. I've held a CFI since 1994. Hard to believe it's been that long already! Granted, I haven't flown a lot in that time - particularly since I left the aviation industry in 2000. However, I've managed to get into the air sporadically and have enjoyed every moment of it.
Over the years I've renewed my certificate through FIRC's as well as on-line via Jeppesen's CFI renewal program. The past 5 renewals have all been through Aviation Seminars' Flight Instructor Refresher Clinic. Kim Barnes has been the training instructor every time and he's always done a great job. I thoroughly enjoy the FIRC weekends and normally leave them with the itch to fly - not flight instruct - just fly.
This year was different. I left the FIRC viewing flight instructing as a great way to get back into the air on a regular basis and share the experience with others. Consequently, I've been reading, catching up, and doing a little research. And I've decided to chronicle my efforts through this blog.
I also thought this might be a fine place to stash the lists of materials, resources, and web sites that should come in handy as I move forward. We'll see how it all goes.
Happy Landings
